  The first Hail Mary was brought to earth by Angel Gabriel to Mary.  Paul VI called the rosary "a compendium of the Gospel." Pio called the rosary, "his weapon".  At Fatima, Mary identified herself as, "I am the Lady of the Rosary", and continued, " I have come to warn the faithful to amend their lives and to ask pardon for their sins.  They must not offend our Lord any more, for he is already to grievously offended by the sins of men.  People must say the rosary.  Let them continue saying it every day."

Skull Rosaries & Chaplets
Inspired by antique Rosaries and Chaplets            
in European museums and books from the late middle ages-
15th century up. Skulls on rosaries and chaplets were very popular
during this time in history. Working with rare components
does make a difference in the finished design.
Crucifixes, rosary centers and religious medals cast from
antiques in sterling, pewter and bronze along with hard to
find antique beads (or those inspired by them) do make
the difference. But most of all, it is in the way a designer 
chooses to put it all together. These old rosaries and chaplets
from the 15th century speak to the heart in a special way,
Regardless if they were put together by an artist or by a guild- 
or simply by someone who took what they had and strung
it into a prayer chain, the results are so beautiful that
they are now resting in museums all over Europe.

This unique Skull Bead Chaplet boasts 19mm x 16 mm Skull Beads
Date wood is extremely hard and naturally resistant to insects and decay. Date trees are found throughout India, Southeast Asia and Indonesia. These amazing beads are individually hand carved. Design and tone will vary slightly from bead to fabulous bead.

Coptic Trinity Cross. This Cross is a recast from a 19th century Coptic piece. The Copts were the first Egyptian Christians' who converted  through the Evangelization of Saint mark. Each end of the equal armed Cross is finished  in the three "dots" which were used to symbolize the Trinity. This is one of our favorite tenner crosses because of it's size and simplicity. Size is  1 1/2 " long. It is made of solid Bronze.
At the tail of the Chaplet, I used a fetish ring used in the gold trade of Africa on a scale. Placing the ring on your finger, it is used to keep track of the  Five decades  of a complete rosary

  Brown Skull and Bone Rosary with antiqued stick beads

Brown Skull and Bone Rosary
In this beautifully crafted Skull Rosary-Memento Mori
has wooden hand-carved skulls richly brown and smooth to the touch. They measure
11x13 mm. Interceded with lightly antiqued bone and reddish glass spacers.
For the Pater-Our Father prayers I have chosen antiqued stick beads. Which can bring to mind the passion of Jesus made to endure the cruel  wearing of the crown of thorns.
Oh my Jesus how you suffered for our sins and for our salvation.
 
This remarkably beautiful cross is a recast of an antique made in Ethiopia.
It measures 50 mm tall (without bail) and is 36 mm wide.
A friend brought me a few of them from his visit to Ghana, Africa.
 Brass Coptic Cross
The rosary center is a favorite of mine, a beautiful Eucharistic medal made of bronze,
it measures 1 inch. As with most all of my work, and if I have them, I add a tiny miraculous bronze medal in honor of our Blessed Mother.
Once I finally decided on it's design, it was a pleasure to bring it to it's fruitation. Length 30 inches

 Skull Bead Rosary w/ Ethipiopian Coptic Cross

This skull rosary is very similar to the other with all dark smooth skulls. The couple of differences are, these skulls are hand carved out of real bones. They are then polished to a nice luster and then antiqued. The faces are quite cute and whimsical looking.

And as the other skull rosary, it was a real joy to create.
Once again I have used this remarkably  beautiful Coptic cross, which is a recast of the original made in Ethiopia.
It is quite substantial with good weight to it. It measures 50mm tall (with out bail) and 36mm wide.
The center is 1 in. double sided with Jesus other side Mary. It too is a recast of an antique bronze with great patina.  Length: 23 1/2 inches

Skull Bone Chaplet with Ring from Africa and Ethiopian Coptic Cross

 Large Skull Bone  Chaplet with Ring from Africa and Ethiopian Coptic Cross

For this chaplet, I chose to use this wonderful recasting of an antique Cross from Ethiopia which measures 2 ¼“ with bail.



The Pater is a red agate dzi-style barrel eye bead. It measures 1 ¾” long and is truly beautiful. It is set between both bone and wooden spacer beads. These skulls are hand carved bone which measure 10 x 12mm.
At the tail of the chaplet I used a fetish ring used in the gold trade of Africa. By placing the ring on your fingers used to keep track of the 5 decades of a complete Rosary. I am including a sweet tiny sacred heart of Milagros bronze. Length 15 1/2 inches

These skulls are cast powdered bone and resin,
with great detail and antiquing. They measure 10mm wide x 19mm long.
